Headstand has a birthday

Upstairs in The Fountain underneath the strings of coloured light bulbs is a larger than life confessional booth. Surely the most bizarre addition to a pub. It’s also fairly irrelevant too as I was in the room to celebrate Headstand’s 5th Birthday and so sat with my back to the intriguing wooden structure all night gawping at the poets and musicians that took to the stage with such ease. I have to say that were some excellent performances tonight including The Spaghetti Faction bringing all the energy of the street protest into the room (megaphone included), Malcolm Guite with his bouncy beats and his homage to poetical forms and of course Patrick Widdess with his wonderfully surreal poetry.
