Michael Schmidt at CB1

Michael Schmidt was reading at CB1 Poetry last night. It was a short and very compelling reading. His work is steeped in a narrative that draws you in and a historical weight and literary tradition that lends it gravitas. Not only is he the MD of Carcanet Press, editor of the PN review but he also finds time to be the current Writer in Residence at St John’s College.
He finished off the reading with a Q&A which I thought was a good way to end the evening.

Before he went on to read, I rather bravely did my second ever open mic. Applause! Read Mantra, which of course you all heard me read on Headstand last month and are throughly bored of it! Good to get up in front of such a large audience and great to be part of such a well respected open mic.
