Will Self at The University of Leicester

Will Self was reading extracts from his latest book at Leicester Uni this evening and what a fun evening it was. The the Peter Williams Lecture Theatre was packed with an audience and hanging on his every word. After the reading Harry Whitehead interviewed him. It inspired me to write this poem:

Will Self

has been drawn by Quentin Blake
and consequently his whole being is stretched out.
He has been tucked into a chair but
folds himself out to read;
to do the voices.
‘I’m happy to do the voices’ he says.
And he is.
And he does them jolly well,
before he folds himself back into the chair to be
questioned by Harry.
